Value-added services show exponential growth in 2010 in every area of technology (with wireless/mobile in particular) with more countries embracing 3G and 4G than ever. Such a move empowers more users with more services over mobile. No more leaving the dancers with no music to dance to!
No matter what continent you are on: Africa, Australia, Asia, Europe, North or South America ... users can do their banking, shopping, listening to music, gaming, social networking, email, voice, video and more.
Mobile VAS World Summit 2010 in Singapore is on the Edge ... ;-) ready to help organizations and individuals get more from their service providers by assisting those providers with the education and business opportunities they deserve.
Note: The share of revenues from VAS is on the rise as telecom operators can see, as they go about adding more subscribers during declining ARPUs making the voice telephony business look somewhat unattractive.
Value Chain analysis of the Mobile VAS business has uncovered a trend wherein the constituents of the MVAS Value Chain, Content Developers, Content Aggregators, Platform Enablers, and Telecom Operators are merging with each other, adding win-win value for all rather than just satellite contributors.
Currently, a host of applications are possible as part of Non-Voice offering for a telecom operator, such as SMS, MMS, person-to-person messaging to application-to-person and person-to-application messaging, mobile IM, mobile game, mobile music, mobile TV, mobile navigation, mobile search, mobile marketing, mobile stocks and mobile payment among others. – Research & Markets
Operators are facing keen competition from MVNOs, social networking communities, voip companies, and each other. The once, taken for granted, margins are disappearing. How to grow? VAS?
Increasing mobile penetration (more mobile users than ever), the growing popularity of mobile entertainment, rising income levels among even emerging countries, declining ARPU and introduction of 3G is driving growth in the VAS sector.
Mobile VAS World Summit 2010 will gather some of the brightest minds, the most highly-regarded expert speakers from across the ecosystems of Mobile VAS to share their latest efforts in launching projects. They will clue summit participants into the vital business insights on how the business models can be developed for successful project implementations and the key challenges they have encountered.
The highlights of the summit will be Case Studies which will be presented by mobile operators in sharing their invaluable experience. Listen to the pre, during, and post activity of several projects and businesses in VAS.

Intelligent Things You Can Do with Phone Calls or Numbers?
Here's our conversation. I'll add more as we receive comments. Feel free to comment directly here on the DIDX blog, too! You can participate here, on Twitter, Facebook, or Linkedin.
Suzanne Bowen Any more intelligent things you can do with phone calls? I hear dozens from new #DIDX members. and the latest? Make all DIDs SMS-able. http://www.rageboy.com/stupidnet.html
Kevin C. Leacock Is that to say that all DIDX DIDs are becoming SMS-capable?

Suzanne Bowen I wish, Kevin. We need more mobile operators joining www.didx.net so that some of the coolest services in the world can leverage DIDs that can SMS in and out. These DIDX members have the technology to enable SMS over Internet... just need the DIDs.
Any other intelligent things we can do with phone calls, phone service, IP communications, phone numbers? Let's help David Isenberg out here.

Kevin C. Leacock Yeah, I was rather excited when DIDx added SMS capability, but unfortunately, I couldn't find any numbers I needed with the SMS capability. Shame.
For a start, I've seen games done by phone, systems that remember your personal settings based on CallerID. There's things like the Localphone approach - use a combination of the CLID and the DID to redirect that call to a specific customer's contact - in effect, multiple people using the same phone number to call multiple other people.
Rather than focusing on intelligent inbound services - menus, etc - there's also things like intelligent outbound services, for example, for people with multiple DIDs, I use a CLID decision engine that determines which of your DIDs is the least expensive for people to call at the location you're calling and then send that DID as the identity.

Show Your Telephone Company the Advantages of Using DIDX.net
DIDXchange makes available DID/DDI voip phone number peering among VoIP Service Providers, from entrepreneurial social networking or media startups to traditional phone companies and everything in between.
If you can connect your Internet protocol-based telephony network with other VoIP companies and exchange DID numbers at very little cost, this is called VoIP peering. The truth? Not every call must pass the PTT or any other PSTN network.
One of the most common problems when connecting your VoIP network with others is the in regard to the routing. DIDX will help your softswitch know what kind of operators are connecting with youo. or maybe even what SIP-address or IP address the call should be routed to. In fact, all the necessary routing info is in in the correct form in one single SIP request.
All you need is SIP interoperability, and DIDX offers interop testing for you. The service also offers free API, complex CDR, advanced search even for vanity numbers, billing between wholesale buyers and sellers of DID/DDi on DIDX.
DIDX intuitively chooses the best of many sources to determine what routing information to send for your service:
• Number Portability in Canada, UK, France and USA
• Internal international database of more than 60 countries with a choice of pricing plan, features, quality level (0-8 and 8 as highest)
• Advanced search with specifics such as vanity numbers, certain number of channels, T38, SMS, quality level, use on calling card enabled, unlimited minutes or per minute charge, choice of 1000s of cities...
• Sign up at http://www.didx.net/signup, complete the one interop to connect to all 17,000 other providers at http://www.didx.net/interop and start buying and/or selling. Our knowledge base is at http://kb.didx.net/. Check for free http://www.didx.net/api and demo videos at http://www.didx.net/videos and http://www.youtube.com/user/didexchange.
