Interview with Mohsin Zaka, President of Softec

DIDX and its sister service and press/magazine Techistan are media partners for Softec 2010, an extremely popular South Asian software developers' conference in Lahore, Pakistan. It is scheduled Mar. 20-21, 2010. Ali Hassan and Omar Shaikh, some of *my colleagues at Super Technologies,  interviewed Mohsin Zaka, president of Softec.

1. Tell us about the competitions in the past at Softec.

Answer: About the winners of the last years, every competition has a separate winner. we mainly announce the winners and the runner ups ans rest are given certificates.

2. What will the exhibits and booths be offering and showcasing? Both of us will be there and can't wait!

Answer: Yes, there are exhibits as well who are mainly sponsors of the event ( SOFTEC is totally a non profit organization and the event is run all with the help of sponsored funds )

the exhibitors for SOFTEC 2010 are present on th website http://www.softec.org.pk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=99&Itemid=169 . The exhibitor of the even are mainly software houses, telecom industry, educational consultants, hardware industry etc. 

3. What kind of sponsorships do you have?

Answer: The Sponsors of the event are mainly categorized as Partners, Platinum, Gold, silver or bronze sponsors. the division is with respect to the amount of funds the company gives to SOFTEC, and the company is offered different benefits (mainly publicity) against their sponsorships.

4. We heard that people of all ages participate in the competitions. Tell us about it. Everyone is talking about it.

Answer: Last year,a round about 800 participants (school level to under grad) participated in different competitions. 

this year, up till now we already have 70 registered teams ( almost 300+ students) while the registration deadline is 1st March 2010. We hope to get even more participation this year.

5. What will be new in 2010? 

Answer: This time we are planning to hold a " tech talk " so that different speakers, bloggers come and express there views on different topics.
