Dad Explains Direct Inward Dialing and Getting Acquired

Recently, our VP's father who is over 70 wise years of age, asked a new friend he and his wife made at Golden Corral, what was their DID number? Keep in mind, he's had several hundred conversations with his daughter about the concepts of IP telephony and direct inward dialing. The other senior citizen couple laughed with pleasure when Mr. Lombard proceded to explain what a DID was.

Here's how he defined it, "For people like you and me, it has become synonymous with a 'phone number.' The geeky people like my daughter, her company and all the others in the world involved with voice over Internet would define it another way. It is a technology that lets people like you and me and small businesses and other kinds of groups all over the world make telephone call to an internal telephone extension within an organization or home without having to go through a traditional operator. You tend to save a LOT of money and you get to answer your phone call on instant messengers ... voip applications on your cell phone even."

... "I've figured out that any telephone company or any company who uses voip to provide their service should either use DIDX or find a provider who does. They might get acquired. No joke.
