DIDX has chosen to showcase the CTO Conference on Investing in ICTs in Emerging Markets. With a world population of 6.7 billion people, 1.2 billion land line telephone lines and 4.0 billion mobile cellular subscribers, there is a need to bring new ICT investment into developing countries. But what is ICT? And what does "emerging markets" mean?
ICT is Information and Communication Technologies. This year's CTO Conference on Investing in ICTs in Emerging Markets in London, UK Dec. 9-10, 2009, will help to bridge the gap by discussing future policy, regulation and business models to maximize opportunities for joint investments.
Emerging markets is "financial markets of developing countries, usually a small market with a short operating history." What are examples of developing countries? The American Mathematical Society has a list on their website from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe.
